David Allen Loy, 61, of Taneytown, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, surrounded by his family at Gettysburg Hospital.
Born January 4, 1961, he was the son of the late Ralph Loy and Mary (Haifleigh) Loy of Taneytown. He was the beloved husband of Tammy D. (Caple) Loy, who he married in 1991.
David was an active dairy farmer. He enjoyed planting and harvesting crops. He attended Francis Scott Key High School as a member of the class of 1979 and was a member of the school FFA Chapter. He was a member of the Taneytown Jaycees Chapter, and a member of the Kingsdale Fire Company. He devoted himself to helping neighbors with spring planting and summer haymaking. Throughout his life he belonged to Piney Creek Church of the Brethren, Trinity Lutheran Church in Taneytown and Chapel Lutheran Church in Woodsboro, MD. He loved playing with his dogs Chelsea, Brownie, and Jetta; and above all he loved his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are children John and wife Felicia of Taneytown, James of Princeton, NJ, Molly of Taneytown, Joe of Boulder, CO, and Helen of Taneytown; grandson Josiah; sister Patti of Taneytown; mother-in-law Donna Caple of Westminster; sisters-in-law Jenny Fritzsche and husband Bill of Costa Mesa, CA and Tonna and husband Michael Arbaugh of Westminster; nephews Adam, Ben, Bradley and fiancee Lauren, and Brandon; and niece Maddie.
The family will welcome friends on Monday, October 10, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 11th at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Stan Diehl officiating. For those unable to attend in person the service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. Interment will be in Sandymount Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company, 39 East Baltimore St., Taneytown MD 21787 or the Humane Society of Carroll County, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster MD 21158.
