Danny Gordon Bellamy was born on February 4, 1945 in Lavonia, Georgia. He passed away after a prolonged hospital stay resulting from gallbladder surgery and then Covid-19. He passed peacefully Sunday evening, February 7, 2021 under the care of Northside Hospital, Atlanta. Danny grew up in Lavonia, Georgia and was the oldest of four boys. He was a graduate of Lavonia High School in 1963 and went on to attend Young Harris Junior college where he met the love of his life and soulmate Elaine (Jones) Bellamy. He is also the alumni of Georgia Southern University where he obtained his teaching degree, and later in life attending Lincoln Memorial University where he completed his Educational Specialist Degree. Danny was a Vietnam Veteran through his enlistment with the Army as a Field Radio Relay Equipment Repairman. Following his tour in Vietnam and honorable discharge, Mr. Bellamy began a distinguished teaching career of 34 years in Industrial Arts and later Technology at Marietta Junior High with the Marietta City School System. Danny was a resident of Cherokee county for more than 47 years. He was a Mason, master gardener, a hunter, a fisherman, an outdoorsman, and fixer of all things! He never met a stranger and was a friend and mentor to all. Family, tradition, and history were all important values that he shared with his loved ones and his favorite place to be was wherever his sweetheart Elaine was. Danny is preceded by his beloved wife of 53 years Elaine and his loving parents Hazel Kathleen Cobb Bellamy and Lyman Bellamy both of Lavonia, Georgia. He is survived by his loving children; daughter Shanon Chance of Adairsville, GA; Son Shaun Bellamy of Germany (USAF) and wife Susan; grandchildren - Jessica Pulliam of Kingston, GA and husband Kyle - Sara Chance, Holly Chance, and Caleb Chance of Adairsville and Alexander Bellamy, Victoria Bellamy, and Evelyn Bellamy of Germany; Great-grandchildren Haley Pulliam, Waylon Pulliam, and Caroline Pulliam of Kingston, Ga; Brothers Freddie Bellamy and wife Marie and family of Lavonia Ga, Jimmy Bellamy and wife Tammy and family of Wadley and Canton Ga, Tony Bellamy and wife Cindy and family of Augusta, Ga; Sister-in-law Kathy Sharp and family of Ft Myers, FL and Angela Strode and husband Jon and family of Orlando, FL. Services were held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Lakeside Funeral Home Chapel in Woodstock, GA.
