May 2, 1936 - March 12, 2023 Dannas Weller Berchtold, known by everyone as Susie, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2023. She was born on May 2, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan. When she was a young girl, she moved with her family to Riverside, CA, where she lived for the rest of her life. She graduated from Riverside Poly High School and attended Riverside City College and the University of California, Riverside. She married Robert Berchtold in 1956 and had four children. In addition to being a homemaker, Susie worked part-time at the family business, Riverside Ice Company. She loved the outdoors and took many camping trips with family and friends. She was an avid birdwatcher and was active in the local chapter of the National Audubon Society and was a life member of the Nature Conservancy. Throughout her life, she spent many summer days at Crescent Bay Beach in Laguna Beach, which became a favorite meeting spot for family and friends. While her daughters were active in Girl Scouts, she served as the leader of their troop and led many adventurous field trips. Later in life, she formed A Moveable Feast, a catering business, with a group of friends. A Moveable Feast also operated the restaurant in the Riverside Art Museum for several years. She was always a voracious reader. Susie was predeceased by her husband Robert and her sister Joan Duncan. She is survived by her children Kurt of Riverside, Dannas of Redding, Bobbi Bueno of Riverside, and Garth of Riverside, and by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on May 10, 2023, at 11:30 am at Olivewood Memorial Park, 3300 Central Avenue, Riverside.
