Daniel B. Vetsch, age 83, of Huron, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family. His graveside service will be in the Fillmore Cemetery at a later date.
Daniel was born to George and Agnes Vetsch on the family farm in Rural Fillmore, North Dakota on March 3, 1936. He grew up on the family farm with his parents, brothers and sister. Daniel attended school in Fillmore, North Dakota.
Daniel attended the Fillmore Catholic Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He also spent a number of years as an altar boy for the church.
Daniel met and married Helen Gage in 1958, and they had five children, Steven, Terri, Deb, Dan and Cindy.
He proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years. His work career involved law enforcement and security up until his retirement.
After his retirement, Daniel loved doing yard work, fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Daniel and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Agnes Vetsch; and two brothers, Kenny Vetsch and Henry Vetsch.
Daniel is survived by his children, Steven Vetsch of Blunt, Terri Grunedike of Hill City, Deb (Verlin) Schelhaas of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Dan (Melissa) Vetsch of Huron, Cindy (Barry) Walther of Tyler, Minnesota; their mother, Helen Magann; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred (Gloria) Vetsch of Rugby, North Dakota, John (Lois) Vetsch of Washburn, North Dakota, Richard (Joanne) Vetsch of Rugby, North Dakota, two sisters, Ann Vetsch of Bismarck, North Dakota, Jeanette Vetsch of Mahnomen, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; and also a few aunts and uncles.
