Daniel Joseph Leemon, born May 14, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 of heart failure. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Helen Leemon, and his brother, Joseph Leemon. Dan graduated from Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia in 1960 with a B.S. in Industrial Management (Engineering). He was a member of the Sigma Rho Scholastic Society and the Scabbard and Blade Honorary Military Society. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry in 1960 and served in the Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1968. A distinguished businessman, Dan held several management positions, including Industrial Engineer for Allied Chemical Co., Industrial Engineering Manager for Hercules Powder Co., and various executive positions with Clow Corporation, culminating in the position of Senior Vice President/General Manager of Clow's Water Systems Group which comprised 75% of the company's business. Dan joined Vulcan Materials Co. of Birmingham, Alabama in 1981 and held executive positions including President of the Midwest and Southwest Divisions, Senior Vice President - West Region, and finally as President of the Midsouth Division in Knoxville, Tennessee until his retirement in 2002. Dan took great pride in his commitment to his work and especially to all the employees who worked for him. He was held in high regard and was respected by all who knew him. Dan enjoyed the outdoors and loved to golf, hunt, and fish, especially with his two sons. Dan is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jeanne Crain Leemon, sons Daniel J. and David Leemon, step-son Brian Hinman, and granddaughters Lilliana, Ariella, and Alexis Leemon. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital.
