Daniel George Gresco, age 86 of Lewes, DE, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at his home. He was born on July 25, 1935, in Elizabeth, NJ, son of the late George G. and Sophia L. Gresco.
Mr. Gresco was a graduate of Westfield High School in Westfield, NJ. He figure-roller skated for the Twin Cities Skating Club and was National Champion in 1952. Mr. Gresco was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the US Navy. He earned certification as a tool & die machinist, working for Rosco Machine Co. in Garwood, NJ and as a machine shop supervisor for Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Gresco was a talented guitarist, playing with the Back Bay Strummers, and a skilled gardener, as evidenced by his spectacular flower and vegetable gardens. He enjoyed both the Jersey shore and Delaware beaches, relaxing and fishing, as well as tinkering on cars. Mr. Gresco loved hosting barbeques, gathering family and friends as often as possible. He was best known for his witty humor and practical jokes, and he could often be found in his derby hat, drinking a cold beer. Mr. Gresco was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Mr. Gresco was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Gresco, in 2018. He is survived by his children: Lisa-Anne FitzGerald (Richard) of Peachtree City, GA and John Gresco (Kristen) of Howell, NJ; and his grandchildren: Matthew, Katherine, Anne, Patricia, Emily, Thomas, Mary Kate, Andrew, Grace, and Daniel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in New Jersey at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr. Gresco's memory to Seasons Hospice, 30265 Commerce Drive, Unit 205, Millsboro, DE 19966.
