Daniel Lynn "Danny" Day, age 63, passed away at his home in Jal, NM on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Danny was born on Sunday, July 26, 1959 in Kermit, TX. He was a 1977 graduate of Jal High School. He was a US Army veteran and studied electrical tech and industrial maintenance at Fort Bliss (class of 1980.) He served as an 24N Chaparral System Mechanic in Germany in 1981-1983. He worked for Kelley's Controls in Odessa, TX and was a valued employee there for 29 years. He drove back and forth between Jal and Odessa and was always checking out the Facebook updates on oilfield traffic.
Danny was a huge fan of college football, especially the Longhorns. He paid close attention to the NFL draft and was a Major Cowboys buff. He was a home body. He loved watching Saturday cartoons with Ryan and had a special place in his heart for Ryan, Crissy, Kaylee and Brandon, as well as Crissy's mom, Janice Emerson.
Those left to cherish his love and memory include his life partner: Crystal "Crissy" Emerson of Jal, NM; daughters: Amanda Ferraro of League City, TX and Diane Scharff and husband Nick Robinett of Conway, SC; sisters: Tina Berry and husband Tim of Odessa, TX and Parma Day-Witt and husband Michael of McKinney, TX; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Wayne C. Day and Betty Louise Holland.
Memorial services will be held at Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Jimmy Braswell will officiate.
