Daniel Edward Davis, 88, of Milliken passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Medical Center of the Rockies after suffering a fall. He was born February 22, 1933, in Ness City, KS, to Thomas and Nora Mae (Reynolds) Davis.
At the age of two, his family moved to Gunnison for health reasons and he graduated from Gunnison High School.
Dan was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged May 25, 1961.
He married Grace Pauline Slohn on November 1, 1955, in Oklahoma City, OK, and she passed away February 24, 2000. He then married Margaret Bright and she passed away.
Dan graduated from Denver Theological Seminary and pastored several congregations, including churches in Briggsdale and Galeton.
Dan founded and co-owned and operated Dan Davis & Sons trucking for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, shooting guns, pestering people and sharing the word of God with others. Dan was affectionately known as "Pappy" to family and friends alike as he loved to open his home to all.
He was a member of the Cowboy Church in Johnstown, NRA, and a proud Republican.
Thankful to have shared his life are his children; Barbara (Tom) Page, Daniel (Delene) Davis, Jr., David "Cookie" Davis and Frances (Troy) Pachner, nine grandchildren; Mike Olson, Clint and Clay Page, Cara Baur, Isiah Pachner, Heidi (John) Campbell, Daniel Davis, III. and Danelle Owens, 16 great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren, siblings; Joe (Patty) Davis and Shirley (Andy) Hinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two spouses, siblings; Norma Carnegie, Gail and Walter Davis and a grandson, Cade Page.
Dan's Life Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at Grace Community Church, Johnstown with a reception to follow. Inurnment at the Briggsdale Cemetery.
