Dan was born October 4, 1968 in Midland, TX to Mary Elaine Mattson Bandy and Donald Wayne Bandy. He graduated in 1987 from Marble Falls High School with honors. Dan enjoyed riding horses, competing in western pleasure events, showing dairy and beef cattle at Burnet County Stock Show, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio stockshows and anything that had to do with animal genetics. When he moved away form Marble Falls to a more city type of life, showing and breed genetics eventually moved into the love of English Bulldogs. Especially his "dog of a lifetime" Rupert. They were his passion over the next twenty-five to thirty years and included many champions and a breeding program that included his Chimera Bulldogs. Dan was active at different times in Bulldog clubs in Dallas, Austin, and since his move to Shawnee, OK almost twenty years ago, the Oklahoma City Bulldog Club until his death. He moved to Shawnee to work for Dr. Joel Wilson at the Town and Country Vet Clinic in his Show Dogs on Ice program that specializes in canine reproduction, semen analysis, freezing and insemination services. He assisted in radiographes for breed requirements.
Dan is proceeded in death by his father, Donald Wayne Bandy.
He survived by his mother Mary Elaine Mattson Bandy of Kingsland, TX, sister Laurel Pickens (Todd) of Drummond, MT and nephews, Cooper Pickens and Tucker Pickens, both of Drummond, MT. The family extends special thanks and appreciation to Betsy Love, Nicholle Hoke, Cara Robinson, Ward McAfee and Dr. Joel Wilson for their great friendship and devotion to Dan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Tornado Alley Bulldog Rescue in OKC, tornadoalleyok.org, the Hill Country Humane Society of Buchanan Dam hchstexas.com , or the pet rescue of your choice, in Dan's name.
