Daniel J. Blanchette, 70, of Kittery, Maine passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2022, at Exeter Hospital. Born December 9, 1951, to the late Odeo and Bertha (Gallant) Blanchette, he was raised in Eagle Lake ME, and graduated from the University of Maine (Orono). Dan was a long-time resident of Eliot, ME where he lived with his late husband of 41 years, Philip O. Drake who he officially married in 2013. Dan served as the administrative assistant for the Town of Eliot, ME for 31 years until retiring in 2014.
Dan was predeceased by his brother Paul Blanchette (Rose) and his nephew Brandon Blanchette. Survivors include his siblings Maurice (Mary) Blanchette of Ellington CT, May (Ellery) Bouchard of East Orland ME, Anne (Norman) Fournier of Wallagrass ME, and Earl (Victoria) Blanchette of Austin TX. He is also survived by his nephews/nieces Michael Bouchard, Lori Wood, Randy Fournier, Lynn Sheridan, Daniel Blanchette, Kelly Blanchette, Amie Blanchette, William Blanchette, Nicole Urich, Karen Blanchette, Susan Schmidt, Alana Blanchette, and Travis Blanchette, plus many grand nieces and nephews. Dan is also survived by his and Philip's very special friends Steve Workman and Lorelei Gilman.

Services: A memorial mass will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022, 11am at St John's Episcopal Church, 101 Chapel St, Portsmouth, NH 03801 followed by a reception next door in Thaxter Hall. No flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to the music fund at St. John's Episcopal Church http://www.stjohnsnh.org, the NHSPCA https://nhspca.org and Shriners Hospitals for Children https://donate.lovetotherescue.org.
