of Hamburg, NY passed on April 18, 2021. Loving son of Laurence Bauer and Jeanne Bauer (nee Mahoney); beloved husband and best friend for over 50 years of Ellen A. Bauer; devoted father of Alicia Bauer Diamond, Daniel S. (Mandy) Bauer, and Lauren M. (Nick) Chavis; proud grandpa of Presley Bauer, Wyatt Bauer, Miley Stewart, Owen Chavis, and Mackenzie Chavis; loving brother of Laurence (Noel) Bauer, Dennis (Debbie) Bauer, and Sheila (Don) Appleby; caring brother-in-law of Suzanne (late Robert) Lynch, the late Eugene Bauer, and William (Sherry) Bauer; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was a proud police officer for the Town of Hamburg Police Department. He was a member of their accident investigation team and the SWAT team who participated in competitions in Canada. During his time as a police officer, he was awarded the 1982 Award of Valor, 1984 Policeman of the Year, 2000 Policeman of the Year, and 2007 Outstanding Instructor Award. A graduate of Bishop Timon High School, Erie Community College, and Buffalo State College, Dan also served his country from 1971-1976. Dan was a member of the Hibernian Society, American Legion, Police Emerald Society, and The Black Sheep. After retirement from the police department Dan went on to teach his trade at the Erie County Policy Academy. When he retired a second time, he moved to his dream home in Indian Shores, FL. living life on his terms and surrounding his friends and family with music, boat rides, and laughter.
