High Point, NC and Holyoke, MA: Daniel Peter "Danny" Arent, Jr., 79, died Friday, January 29th, at his home in High Point, NC after a long battle with kidney disease. Born March 2, 1941 in Holyoke, MA, to Daniel P. Arent, Sr. and Florence K. (McGill) Arent, Danny was a 1958 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and worked most of his career as a mason, eventually retiring as a maintenance supervisor at Providence Hospital.
In 2010, Danny was the recipient of a live kidney transplant, selflessly donated by his son-in-law, Mike Link. Danny will be remembered for his warm personality, an easy-going style, and his genuine kindness. Danny loved to work with his hands whistling while he worked, but nothing made him happier than spending time with his three grandchildren.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Florence (Fenton) Arent; his two daughters, Teresa Arent, her husband, Eric Rzepka, and their daughter, Madaket Rzepka of Reading, MA; Susie (Arent) Link, her husband, Mike, and sons Michael and Bryan of Colfax, NC, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and godchildren from the Bourn, Cloutier, Fenton, and Goddu families. Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memoriam of Daniel Arent be made to: Wake Forest Abdominal Organ Transplant Center, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem NC 27157.
