Danford Ray Wheeler was born July 9, 1934 in Hawarden, Iowa. His parents were Lloyd and Dorothy Wheeler. He spent his childhood in Pine City, MN. on the family farm and attended school there through his junior year. The Wheelers moved to Mulhall,Oklahoma in 1951. He went to Mulhall High School for his senior year to graduate in 1952 and met his future wife there. In 1953 He attended Oklahoma State University. On December 25,1954 Danford married Wilma Jean Hannah of Mulhall, Oklahoma. They were blessed with 4 children, Danford Jr., Cheryl, Tracy and Mark. He started to work at Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas in July 1954 at $1.05 per hour. He retired July 1, 1995 in Everett, Washington. He then offered his services repairing aircraft around the world. Danford and Wilma's travels included stops in Guam, Hawaii and Rome,Italy. Danford was a 32nd degree Mason, Midian Shriner and affiliated with the Eastern Star. He loved to hunt and fish, but most of all he loved being a big kid. He enjoyed coaching the kids in all sports and was well known for teaching many of the neighborhood kids how to water ski and fish on the numerous weekend camping trips to the local area lakes. Danford was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, brothers Gordon and Stanley, and sister Carol. Danford leaves behind his wife Wilma, his children Danford Jr., Cheryl, Tracy and Mark. Son-in-law Scott Hofeditz, and Daughter-in-law Marycell Mantilla, grandchildren Ingrid and Geoffrey, great grandchildren Kloie, Kaiti and Isabella. And several nieces and nephews and cousins. He will be remembered by his many Boeing colleagues for his knowledge of airplanes and his loyality to his crews. Danford was a coaching Legend in both little league football and baseball and his teams won numerous championships. He will forever be remembered in our hearts and prayers.
