Garland resident, Dana Lynn Hill, age 93, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Dana was born on October 10, 1927, in Coleman, Texas. Her outgoing and loving personality made her larger than life and she never met a stranger. She was a college favorite at North Texas Teaching College (University of North Texas) where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and her Master's degree in Education. Her accolades included Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, Women's Forum President, Green Jacket member, May Fete Queen, and a member of Delta Chi Delta Sorority. Dana met fellow senior, Art Hill, the love of her life and best friend, at a college freshman get-acquainted dance that they both crashed! They graduated on a Friday and married the following Sunday at the Little Chapel in the Woods in Denton on August 29, 1948. The next Wednesday, they both started teaching in the Orange Independent School District - Dana as a Speech/Drama teacher and Art as a Civics teacher and Coach. The loving couple was married 71 years. In 1951, the couple moved to Garland, TX, where Dana was a Speech/Drama teacher and speech therapist. Dana and Art joined the First Christian Church and then started Monica Park Christian Church (MPCC) as charter members where Dana sang alto in the choir. In 2006, MPCC celebrated its 50th anniversary with three generations of Hills as members. Dana loved to dance, sing, and laugh! She especially loved being with her fun-loving family. Dana is preceded in death by her husband, Art Hill, and her parents, F. E. "Babe" and Maria Thompson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law - Toppy and Diane Hill, daughter and son-in-law - Kim and Jim Waldrop, four grandchildren - Dayne Hill and wife Maud, McKenna Hill, Austin Hill and wife Courtney, and Jamison Waldrop and wife Kelly, and five great-grandchildren - Greyson and Jacob Waldrop, Nathan Wilson, Matthew Crowther, and Clare Wren Hill.
