Dana Gene Cheer, 66, of the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, Sedro-Woolley, Washington passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, in Everett, WA surrounded by his family. Dana was born on November 14, 1955, to Clarence and Philomena (Moses) Cheer in Wenatchee, Washington. He was married to Patricia "Pat" (Henry) Cheer.
In Dana's youth, he played basketball at Leavenworth High School?a proud Grizzly. He was a good buddy, deer spotter, deckhand, and slots companion to his brother Ernie. He wasn't a good map reader and easily got lost, which is a problem when hunting. He worked for the Tulalip Tribes as a custodian at the bingo hall & casino and as a groundskeeper for their golf course. Dana was an avid fan of the Mariners & Seahawks, through good and bad years. He was never without a smile, a "hello" to everyone, and no one felt like a stranger around him. He was never outdone in generosity and kindness. Despite some significant health challenges, he never complained about it.
Dana is survived by his brother, Ernie Cheer of Sedro-Woolley and his sister, Dorraine (Cheer) Booth of La Conner; nieces, Shelly Lowe, Marie Lockwood, Merry A. Favor and Carrie Bill; nephews, Andy DeNobrega and Ryan Booth; numerous cousins at Upper Skagit, Nooksack, Colville, and more family we "can shake a stick at" in Canada. He leaves many friends as well at Upper, Tulalip, and Leavenworth.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Philomena Cheer; wife, Pat Cheer; brothers, Willard and Lawrence Cheer; sister, Lorraine DeNobrega; nephew, Kevin Cheer; beloved dog, Ruger.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Upper Skagit Indian Tribal Gymnasium; Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday at the Gymnasium followed by burial at the Harry Moses Indian Cemetery, Marblemount.
