Dallas J. Simon, Jr. (83) passed away Friday July 30, 2021 in Houston, TX after complications from a stroke.
He fought a gallant battle, but His Father had other plans for him.
Dallas was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, January 11, 1938, to Dallas and Mabel Simon. He was raised in Rayne and graduated from Rayne High School (1956) and USL (University of Southwestern Louisiana).
He was a very proud member of the Marine Corps from 1958-1962. After serving with the Marines, he moved back to Lafayette. In 1966 he moved to Houston to begin a long career in accounting. He worked for Superior Oil, Ada Resources, and Aminoil. He also worked for H & R Block for 30 years in Lafayette and Houston. He and his first wife, LaNell Meynard had three children (Gus, Todd, and Camille). After their divorce, years later he met Martha Littlejohn, and they were married for 39 years.
He and his wife, Martha, moved to Lafayette in 1984 for just a few years, which turned out to be 29 years.
They recently moved back to Houston to be closer to family.
He was known for his sense of humor, always ready with a joke, and his love of sports. He loved the Ragin Cajuns and especially his New Orleans Saints. It was always said that he never met a stranger and was able to give life to any room.
He also did a mean job of barbecuing and loved playing bouree. His true love, however, was to be with all of his family.
Dallas was active in the Ragin Cajun Club of Houston and was an active member of the Carencro Lions Club, until he moved to Houston.
Dallas is survived by his wife of 39 years, his children, Gus Simon (Melanie), Todd Simon (Lisa), and Camille Bates (Larry) and granddaughters Julia Simon, Izzy Simon, Colette Simon, Allison Simon and soon (2 weeks) Simone Marie Bates.
Also survived by Martha's children, Sandy Littlejohn, Susie Thornton (Bill) and Larry Littlejohn (Nancy) and grandchildren, Cali Littlejohn, Lauren Littlejohn, and Josh Davis (Sara) and their 3 children in addition to numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and his ex-wife LaNell Meynard.
