Dale James Cook died unexpectedly at his farm on May 10th at the age of 64.
Dale was born on September 11, 1957 in Franklin, NH to William R. Cook Sr. and Betty A. Cook (Phelps).
He graduated from Franklin High School, in Franklin NH in 1976 and then earned a Certificate in Eastern White Pine lumber grading from UNH, and in 1991 he completed Police Standards and Training in Concord, NH when he was elected Chief of Police in Danbury.
Dale worked for Dalphonds Lumber as a lumber grader for 20 years, and started WWD logging with his father. After moving many times during his childhood, he was finally able to call Danbury, NH his permanent home, and lived the rest of his life first at a small farm on Ragged Mountain Road and then a larger property on Ford Mill Road. He was a logger, farmer, father, master recycler who could fix snowmobiles and tap rock maple trees. He will be remembered for his love of farming, often admitting to having mad farmer's disease. His selfless community participation and love of Danbury made him known to many. He was known to befriend any person or animal he happened to meet in his daily travels around town.
Dale was the part time Police Chief and officer for the Town of Danbury for 20 years. He was also an active and dedicated member of the town, serving on the Recreation Committee, Zoning Board of Adjustment and as Cemetery Trustee.
His family and friends came first in everything he chose to do in his life. Dad invested his time in his children, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by his wife Twila, brother William Cook Jr. and sister Pamela Desnoyers, daughters Dawn Cook-Hoy and husband Walter Hoy, Jessica Cook and husband Scott McCullough, son Kolt Cook and Casey Shaffer, and five grandchildren Kendell Hoy, Elsie McCullough, Cassidy McCullough, and twins Jasper and Luke Cook.
In Lieu of flowers, please help whenever you see someone who needs it, just as Dale would have done.
Friends may call at the Family Farm, 78 Ford Mill Road, Danbury on Saturday, May 14, 2022 beginning at 12:00 noon.
