Dale Everett Binkley , 92 May 30, 1928 - Dec 1, 2020 Dale Everett Binkley, 92, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Somerford House in Hagerstown, MD.
Born May 30, 1928, in Cearfoss, MD, he was the son of the late Paul Strock Binkley and Gertrude Florence (Hoover) Binkley.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Denise (Martin) Binkley in 1997 and his second wife, Dorothy M. (Schnebly) Snyder Binkley, in 2019.
Dale was a 1946 graduate of Hagerstown High School and a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a member of Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship.
In early years, Dale was employed with Roy L. Hoffman and Sons for 13 1/2 years. He retired from the Maryland Correctional Training Center as a dietary correctional officer after 22 years. After retirement, he worked at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. for over 18 years and helped cut meat at Ernst Market.
Dale enjoyed playing softball for many years, bowled in Southside Mens Minor League for 25 years, was a member of the Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring, and was a member of the Last Mans Club.
He is survived by a son, Donald E. Binkley of Mercersburg; a daughter, Denise E. Binkley, of Chambersburg; three step-daughters, Cherry Snyder of Waynesboro, Betty J. Smith of Clear Spring, and Joan M. Ballam of Falling Waters; two step-sons, Samuel A. Snyder of Clear Spring and Dale N. Snyder of Delmar, DE; a sister, Mary Alice Anderson of Hagerstown; 4 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, Dale was preceded in death by a son, Dennis E. Binkley; a sister, Florence A. Martin; and three brothers, P. Nevin Binkley, Louis E. Binkley, and Arthur L. Binkley.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
