Cynthia Hawkins Darragh Oatman, 85, passed away on January 25, 2024 in Charlotte, NC.
She is survived by three beloved daughters, Sarah Eyssen (Alex) of Charlotte, NC, Amy Wright (Chris) of Arlington, TX, and Katie Cordio (Matt) of Ft. Worth, TX and four precious grandchildren Ashley, Emma Kate, Andie, and Luke. She is also survived by a dear sister, Deborah Bercot (David) and eight nephews and nieces.
Born in Chicago on May 6, 1938, Cynthia attended Mount Holyoke College and Wayne State University. She also lived in Venezuela for ten years as a missionary.
Cynthia enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Loaves and Fishes, and the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. She taught Spanish for sixteen years in private schools before retiring to spend more time with her family and grandchildren.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Alexander L. H. Darragh, and her brother, Alexander Darragh.
A private celebration of life will be held with family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorials to Loaves and Fishes Charlotte or an organization near and dear to your heart.
The family extends deep gratitude to the loving caregivers at Briar Creek Health Center and Via Health Partners (Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte).
