Cynthia "Cyn" Ferguson
Help us celebrate Cynthia! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Cynthia.
Cynthia (Cyn) Ferguson, 64, passed away on December 1, 2020 with her loving daughter Jill, by her side. Raised in Crawfordsville, Cyn made her home in Bloomington where she found her community and friends to call family. Upon relocating to Bloomington in the 1990's Cyn took pride in her work with the woman's music scene, the LGBTQ+ community, and Middle Way House. Cyn believed in the power of one's "village" and was grateful to the Harmony School and Lothlorien Nature Sanctuary for being a part of her village and holding her daughter, Jill in their continued care. With younger hands, Cyn was a seamstress and a needlepoint artist who had one-time had a beloved in-home business which included costume making for the drag community she loved. Cyn had a love of nature, quick to pull over to pick especially beautiful wildflowers. Cyn enjoyed regular trips to Monroe Lake where she could disappear in the water, like a mermaid and taught her daughters to thank the lake by cleaning up the beach before leaving. Cyn was a spiritual person, who believed in the sacred healing powers of nature and community. She never felt whole without a dog in her home and by her side, having loved many in her lifetime. She was a charitable person, regularly donating any small amount she had to nonprofits working to keep animals, women and their children, and the environment safe. Cyn always had room in her home and heart for those in need of family connection.
Cyn was lucky to spend the last two years of her life residing with her youngest daughter Jill, as well as Jill's partner Jared and three of her grandchildren, Zan, Jax, and Laurelin. Cyn took great pride in being a daily grandparent and lived her final years purely to love them and watch them grow.
Cyn is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Jacqueline Tulley. Cyn is survived by her three daughters: Jacqueline Morris (St. Augustine, FL), Amanda Wyatt (Seattle, WA), and Jill Kleinpeter (Bloomington, IN), seven grandchildren, three siblings, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and her Bloomington community. Cyn's love and support will be missed by her chosen children, Eva, Lily, Carrie, Ian, Katie, Erika and many other Harmony and Land Children.
A celebration of her life and community will be held when it is safe to gather again.
"Instead of being overwhelmed by the bad news everywhere that we become passive. Act now to wrest some positive out of the chaos." May Sarton
