Cynthia Tuckey Devlin passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024 at the age of 92. She was born on March 16, 1932 in Ballinger, Texas, and was the eldest of four sisters born to J.G. Tuckey and MaryLou Patterson Tuckey.
She created a beautiful life for herself and her family, centered around her artwork. Her earliest wish was to become an artist. She fulfilled that aspiration by graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University, and studying with various artists throughout her life. She taught art in the public schools, became a magazine art-editor, and loved being a private art teacher. All while creating volumes of paintings of different mediums and subjects - portraits over the years, still life paintings, studies of the Maasai tribe members, and eventually abstracts. She often said she could not NOT paint.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Harold James Devlin, both her parents, and her younger sister Sharon Dykes. She is survived by her daughter Amanda and husband Robert Trapp, her son Jim and wife Caryl Devlin, and son Tuckey and wife Cindy; grandchildren Jay and wife Kathryn Trapp, Mary Elizabeth Trapp, Genevieve Devlin and her partner Able Ponce, and Lex Devlin; great grandchildren Mia Ponce and Jackson Trapp; and sisters Linda Reinhart and Dian Pack, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on September 20, 2024 at 2:00pm at St. James Episcopal Church, 1803 Highland Hollow Dr., Conroe, TX.
