Curtis Meyer, born December 3, 1965, was a rock star, artist, and horror host who passed away on December 18 of complications from COVID and lung issues. Curt loved to entertain people. He was a musician (bass guitar), his favorite band being Motley Crue. He had started a tribute act called Morbid Crue. He was an artist and had fans around the world who enjoyed his show Deadgar's Dark Coffin Classics, where he played a vampire horror host named "Deadgar Winter."
Curt poured his heart and soul into his show, which featured Deadgar and his cast introducing and showing old horror movies, and skits that mixed horror and comedy. It made him happy to know that people could find a laugh and see an obscure film on his show after a long day at work. The show's first episode aired in 2012. He also made appearances in character around the Midwest at comic and horror conventions and other events. He was a friendly person that loved to meet new people and chat with them.
Curt had many creative talents. He, along with his show's other cast members designed the show's set and costumes, wrote scripts, and edited the show. He was also a talented woodworker, making handmade coffin-shaped bookshelves and keepsake boxes, and even created his own line of hot sauce. For his day job, Curt was foreman at the Ardagh Group glass manufacturing plant in Burlington, where he worked for 35 years.
Curt is survived by his older brother Lonny Meyer, his daughter Rachael Meyer, his fianc?e Jennifer Lambert (who co-hosted his show as "Storm Winter"), Jennifer's children Kayla and Alex, and her grandchildren Anthony and Terrance as well as his many friends, with several of them being involved with his show and other projects over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arleen and Burton Meyer, his stepfather, Robert Erdmann, and his stepson Josh Sayer.
In addition to horror, Halloween and rock n' roll concerts, Curt and Jennifer enjoyed riding their motorcycles together, fishing, and most of all, appreciated spending time with their friends. Curt was generous and valued his friendships, the type of guy who would give the shirt off his back to help someone out. Curt will be missed by all, but his legacy as a rocker and a good friend and his creative projects as Deadgar Winter will live on in our hearts and minds.
