Curtis Lester Hoover, 66, of Canyon, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Canyon. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Curtis was born on April 29, 1955 in Childress to Rayworth "Bub" and Mary Hoover. He grew up in Motley County on a section of land, with cattle, horses, pigs and chickens. Curtis worked for 13 years at Shallowater High School and would later serve for 25 years at Randall High School as the agriculture teacher. He was a long time member of Palo Duro Cowboy Church. Curtis loved horses and team roping where he earned the nickname "Red Roper". He also enjoyed cooking on the chuck wagon. He loved to laugh and spend quality time with his family and church family. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Dale Hoover of the home; two daughters, Mandy Frazier and husband David, and Meagan Walters; six grandchildren, Tyler Sharp and wife Marisa, Evan Crowder and wife Justice all of Amarillo; Justice Crowder of Houston, Jade Crowder, Shelbie Frazier both of Amarillo, and Kyla Hamilton and husband Cole of Shallowater; six great grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers, Dennis Hoover and wife Carolyn of Springtown, Bruce Hoover and wife Tammy of Iowa Park, and James Hoover and wife Linda of Big Springs.
