Curtis M. Alspaugh, 92, of rural Mechanicsburg passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at his residence. He was born February 23, 1929 in Cadiz, Indiana, a son of the late Nora (Haskett) Muterspaugh.
Curtis was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Delco Remy in 1989. Curtis was a member of VFW Post 266 in Anderson, American Legion Post 216 in Middletown, Brother and Sisterhood of Kennard and the White River Bluegrass Association. In his younger years he had driven race cars for 21 years.
He is survived by sons, David (Vicky) Alspaugh of Middletown, Larry Alspaugh of Mt. Etna, Indiana; brothers, Carl (Peggy) Muterspaugh of Anderson and Robert Muterspaugh of Mechanicsburg; sister-in-law, Betty Muterspaugh of Markleville; grandchildren, Bryan (Kristi) Alspaugh of Daleville, Micky (Kasey) Alspaugh of Anderson, Julie (Michael) Rasbaugh of Lagrange, Indiana; great grandchildren, Desiree, Austin, Dylan, Haley, Matthew, Rebecca Alspaugh, Michayle, Carly and Ethan Rasbaugh; great great grandchildren, Sophie, Emma Grace, Brantley and Emma Jane Alspaugh; step grandchildren, Bill (Nicole) Vernon of Pennsylvania, Eric Vernon of Indianapolis; step great granddaughter, Abigail Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his wife of 70 years, Armilda Alspaugh in 2020; brother, Charles "Chod" Muterspaugh; daughter-in-law, Kathy Alspaugh; sister-in-law, Sharon Muterspaugh.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will be Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery with military honors provided by the Middletown American Legion Post 216 and the US Army.
