Crystal D. Johnson, 52, of Solsberry, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Born on September 24, 1969, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Steve and Sue Downing.
Crystal was a member of the Eastern Star – Chapter 547 of Solsberry. Crystal worked at Whitestone Products until 1999, when she moved her focus to children, opening Happy Hearts Childcare. For the next 24 years, she touched the lives of so many children and their families. She truly enjoyed watching the children develop and was always following them through their teenage years and on into adulthood. She will be missed by many.
Crystal is survived by her husband of 29 years, Donnie Johnson; one son, Christopher L. Johnson and Rachael Sargent; two daughters, Alisha D. and Brooklyn E. Johnson; mother, Sue Downing of Nashville; one brother, Jeffery and Stephanie Carter; and one sister, Annie Fife; mother-in-law, Catherine Johnson; two brother-in-laws, Jim and Christy Johnson and Joe and Nikki Johnson; nephews, Michael Gordon and Brayden Schelske; and nieces, Sierra Carter, Breanna and Kaelyn Johnson.
Crystal was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tom and Helena Carter; father, Steve Downing; and father-in-law, Donald Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37, Bloomington. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Crystal’s memory through Allen Funeral Home, 4155 South Old State Road 37, or envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
