Courtney Marie (Daugherty) Cope died in Lubbock, TX on April 12, 2022. Born in San Marcos on June 18, 1982, she attended Hays High School and Blinn College. She earned a B.S., magna cum laude, in education from Texas Tech University. For several years she taught Special Education in the Frenship school district before entering the nursing program at South Plains College in Levelland. She married Robert A. Cope, a Lubbock firefighter, on June 28, 2014. They were avid divers who traveled to diving sites in the Caribbean, and cherished their many vacations in the mountains of New Mexico.
Courtney's zest for life was reflected in everything she did. She loved her friends who, when in need, received her unfailing support. Her love of family was boundless, and family gatherings brought out her exuberant joy and comedic humor. She was a family treasure. She was also determined to meet head-on any obstacles to her education, career advancement, and her health. To the end, Courtney was determined to overcome the cancer that took her from a loving family.
In addition to her husband Robert Cope, she is survived by parents Cindy and Kevin Daugherty San Marcos, brother, Paul Daugherty and wife Abianna, San Marcos, grandparents, James and Jane Wilson, Kyle, in-laws Mary Kay and Robert Cope, Richardson, uncles Wesley Daugherty and wife Marcy, San Angelo, Gordon Speights Young and wife Mary Ann, Union Dale, PA, Randy Speights and wife Sheri, Austin, aunt Linda Daugherty Kaufmann and husband Jeff, Buda, cousins Dale and Leslie Daugherty, Austin, Ryan Kaufmann, Austin, Sam Speights, Elgin, Faye Holland, Austin, Lizzy Sandgren, Austin, and Missy Hubbell, Dallas.
Services will be held at 11 am, April 20, 2022 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church's Chapel, Lubbock, TX.
