Cornelia (Peggy) Hodder passed away peacefully in Lebanon, NH, on her 94th birthday. Born, March 23, 1928, in Berlin, NH, to Leslie and Phebe Hodder. When Father Leslie Hodder became pastor at St. Thomas Episcopal Church the family moved to Hanover, NH. Peggy attended Hanover Elementary and High Schools. After graduating Hanover High in 1947, she enrolled at Plymouth State College, obtaining her teaching degree in 1951.
Peggy taught elementary school in Billerica, Mass. for a brief period, but soon returned home to serve as caregiver to her elderly parents at their home on Meeting House Hill in Norwich, VT. She later proudly studied for and obtained her theology degree from the Education for Ministry.
Known for her keen inquiring mind and attention to detail, Peggy continued a lifetime of service to others. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Church and for many years a member of the choir, and the Norwich Public Library benefited from her volunteer services for over forty years. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting; and she spent endless hours working in her garden. There was seldom a twig out of place on her property.
She was predeceased by her parents, Leslie Walter and Phebe Currier Hodder, and a sister, Polly Hodder Rand (husband Richard "Buzz" Rand). She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Pamela "Penny" Andrus, Melinda Preble, Leslie Barchard, Richard "Tim" Rand and Rosalind Jenks.
Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Church in Hanover on May 7 at 11:00. Burial will take place following the service at Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, Holderness, NH.
