Corinne Dugas of Deerfield, age 72, died at home in the early morning of February 10, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer. Beloved wife, mother, and sister, dear friend to many, Corinne was a woman of many passions and interests. An avid biker, hiker, tennis and pickleball player, scrap booker, quilter, traveler, gardener, and amazing cook, she spent her life making friends and connecting with those she loved.
Corinne was born in Baltimore, MD, on June 8, 1948 to Corinne and Clement Dugas. The eldest of seven children, she completed high school in Baltimore, and graduated in 1970 from St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, MD. She met her beloved husband Jack Rosenblum when she moved to western Mass. a few years later. They married outdoors on an overcast October day in 1977, wearing clothes Corinne had sewn, in the yard of their home along the Connecticut River (which they called River-at-Sunrise). She and Jack were thrilled to welcome their daughter Currie Saray Dugas in 1983, travelling to Costa Rica to adopt her and bring her home.
Corinne earned a master's degree from UMass/Amherst in 1980. Over the years she taught, served as a consultant and led trainers' workshops with her husband, served as a scrapbooking consultant with Creative Memories, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Greenfield soup kitchen. She and Jack travelled throughout the U.S. and the world, visiting 23 countries. As one friend noted, Corinne and Jack shared a love that was too generous and exuberant to be contained; it was contagious. Acting as a team, they gathered their friends, Corinne feeding everyone with her love-infused food and Jack beaming with the joy of a match-maker.
Corinne was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jack, and her brothers Ron and Dan Dugas. She is survived by her daughter Currie Saray Dugas and her fianc? Mario Palmisano of Oakland, CA. She is also survived by sisters Patsy Ockenhouse and her husband Dennis, Kathy Dugas and her husband Bruce Schwartz, and Pam Dugas and her husband Bob Bittner, her brother Thomas Dugas and his wife Helen, and many adored nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be private. An outdoor memorial service is planned for later this year, when it is safe to do so. Donations in her memory can be made to the Hospice of the Fisher Home, Amherst, MA. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home, Greenfield, MA.
