Constantine Sivas, beloved husband of Betty Wallace Sivas, has passed into his next adventure and out of this life at the Veteran's Nursing Home in Augusta, GA. An irrepressible and amazing Greek who was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to Emmanuel and Catherine Sivas, who preceded him in death along with his brother Alexander and Alex's wife, Nila Lee Sivas, and his first wife, Barbara Olene Sivas. His smile was known the world over and he made friends wherever he went. He has three children, Mitchell Sivas, Kim New (Jimmy) and Shelly Morris (Albert), and four stepchildren; Richard Wallace (Ginny), Mark Wallace (Terri Leker), Robert Wallace (Stephanie) and Margaret Wallace, a niece, Cathy Sivas, and a nephew, Michael Sivas (Anne). His grandchildren are Shaunte' Sivas, David Sivas, Angela McDonald (Ryan), Rebecca Marsik (Derrik), Nicholi New (Megan), Connie Mathis (Wes), Parker Wallace, Evelyn Wallace, Anne Wallace, and Bronwen Wallace. Great-grandchildren are Hunter Morgan and Ava Rosier, Colton Mathis and Zoey Mathis, Max New and Ethan Drake, and one great-great grandchild.
His ever-present broad smile and joi de vivre took him to many countries and led to his having friends throughout the world. Arriving in the United States with $20 in his pocket and barely speaking English, he spent his first night in jail for his own protection in New York City. He was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War. After obtaining a Mechanical Engineering degree, he designed a least six plants and all the equipment to mine kaoline throughout the United States for Huber Corporation and his work is considered gold standard in this industry. The oldest Black Belt at the time in Tai Kwan Do at 65 years of age in the state of Georgia, he also loved teaching karate. He was a world class soccer player who had been invited to be in the Olympics, but his first wife talked him out of it due to having a brand new infant at home. He brought his love of soccer to Thomson and started teaching soccer and refereeing the game for at least two generations of children at Sweetwater Park.
He will be sorely missed but he had an amazing and love-filled life, and his family will continue to celebrate with him with the following services that were held previously: A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 5-7pm at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Columbia Road. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 9-11am at Thomson Presbyterian Church. The family will have a private graveside service with military honors to honor his life.
