Connie Jaylene Kimbrough Smith, loving wife mother grandmother, 82, Murphy, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2020 in Murphy, TX.
Born August 13, 1937, in Neosho, Missouri, she was the daughter of James (Jay) and Eleanor Kimbrough. She graduated from Neosho High School in 1955. On March 17, 1963 she married Larry Hodgdon Smith in Joplin, MO. December 10, 1963 and October 1, 1966 their loving sons were born. They moved to Plano, TX in 1970 and Murphy, TX in 2000. She continued her education, which she loved, by receiving an Associate's Degree from Collin College in 1990. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many different sporting events and spending time with family and friends. She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Plano where she adored spending time with the May Dye Women's Circle and teaching vacation bible school. She was as many have commented or if you ever met her the "sweetest, nicest, woman I've ever met."
She is survived and loved by her husband of 56 years, Larry Hodgdon Smith: two sons, Bruce Smith and wife, Amy of Allen, TX, and Boyd Smith and husband, Vince of Rancho Mirage, CA: two grandchildren, Luke and Nolan. Her father, mother, and sister, Kay, preceded her in death.
Celebration of life services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 13, 2020 at First United Methodist Church of Plano. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Jessee Osbourne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin, MO.
