Constance Whitesides Taylor McCormick, "Connie" passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31st at her home in York. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, her parents, William Henry & Louise Whitesides Taylor and her brother Bill. She graduated from Chester High School in 1955 and married the love of her life, Wayne the following year. Together they raised their four children, adventured in their motorhome from coast to coast paintbrush in one hand and a cookbook in the other and cheered faithfully for the Gamecocks. Connie and Wayne were the owners of the Buckhorn Gallery & Buckhorn Steakhouse in York, South Carolina. Connie retired from Ferguson Enterprises after 40+ years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Nonnie, as she was affectionately known to her grandchildren, had a profound love for her family and greeted everyone with her sweet smile. She loved making Sunday lunches of fried chicken, homemade desserts and hot coffee in the morning, but what brought her the most joy was just being around the people she loved.
Connie is survived by her children Gene Wayne McCormick Jr., Becca McCormick VanVoorhis (Ken), William Patrick McCormick (Daniell) and Molly McCormick Leake (Jay). Thirteen grandchildren Maggie McCormick, Constance Stolz (Adam), Laura McCormick, Wayne McCormick III, Katie Douvros (Stephen), Jesse VanVoorhis (Ashley), Anna VanVoorhis, Grace Melendez (Fernando), George McCormick, Zoe McCormick, Braxton McCormick, Jaxon McCormick and Emma Louise Leake, five great grandchildren Evan Barton, Eleanor Stolz, Lachlan Douvros, Nolan VanVoorhis and Genevieve VanVoorhis and her sister Anne Taylor.
