Connie Irene Davenport Avery, 79, of Denton, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021, after a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later time in Denton.
Connie was born November 15, 1941, to Hank and Leola Clegg Davenport in Columbus, Georgia, one of six children. As a pastor's child, she grew up in various places in the south. She graduated high school in Pompano Beach, Florida. Connie married Travis Avery after high school and then began cosmetology school. Connie enjoyed being a hairdresser for 56 years, even owning three shops in Denton. Her customers were well loved, she enjoyed all the time she spent with them. But nothing was as special to her as her grandchildren and being with them.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Travis Avery; brother, Danny Davenport; sister, Diane Cox; daughter in law, Donna Avery.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Michael Avery, Melanie Whaite and husband Ralph; sisters, Kathy Brewer, Brenda Jeter, Chris Holley; sister in law, Janice Carlisle; grandchildren, Colton Avery, Sasha Hyman, Avery Whaite, Hunter Avery, Miranda Whaite, Cody Avery; great grandchild, Lily Hyman; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved, Tinker Belle.
