Clyde Vernon Foster, 89, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in Plainview, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 6, 2024 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Plainview, Texas with Rev. Lacy McAdams of Levelland First Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
Clyde was born on June 21, 1935 in Altus, Oklahoma to Clyde Vernon Foster, Sr. and his wife, Ruby Lee. He moved to Plainview, Texas at a young age and has called Plainview his home since then. After high school Clyde enlisted in the Army. He married Laqueta Smith on February 24, 1990 in Plainview, Texas in the Wayland Baptist Chapel. While living in Plainview Clyde worked as a farmer for many years before working for James Brothers as an implement. He was a man that was loved by all who knew him. Clyde was Clyde, what you saw is what you got.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Vernon Foster, Sr. and Ruby Lee; two sons, Mike (Shanna) Foster, John Preston Gatewood and one brother, Joe (Patricia) Foster.
He is survived by his wife, Laqueta Foster of Plainview, Texas; one daughter, Cheryl Ryan of San Marcos, Texas; four sons, Jeff (Kerri) Foster of Sundown, Texas, Dan (Connie) Gatewood of Duncan, Oklahoma, Jeff (Esther) Gatewood of Hudson Oaks, Texas, Mike (Vicky) Gatewood of Saginaw, Texas; one sister, Lee Ona (Charles) Nicholson of San Marcos, Texas and twenty-two grandchildren.
