Clifton Lee Sirmons, Sr., 73, of Woodville, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas.
Visitation was held 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. Military graveside honors service was 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Turner's Branch Cemetery in Spurger, Texas. Officiating was Brother Larry Trest. Serving as pallbearers were Clifton Lee Sirmons, Jr., Mark Sirmons, Kevin Sirmons, Matthew Sirmons, Joshua Sirmons, Douglas Griffin, Dylan Conner, and Samuel Sirmons. Honorary pallbearers were Zachary Sirmons, Coy Phillips, and Clayton Phillips.
Cliff was born January 23, 1950 to Lee and Helen Smith Sirmons in Silsbee, Texas. A Spurger high school graduate, he was honorable discharged from the U.S. Army after 3 tours of duty in Vietnam, 2 tours was in recon and 1 as a military policeman. He graduated from Tyler County Nursing School and worked for many years as an LVN with the Tyler County Hospital and Home Health. Cliff was known as "The Bass Assassin" as he loved to bass fish. He also enjoyed hunting and following the Houston Astros. He was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Sirmons; mother, Helen Simmons; wife, Sharon Sirmons; sister, Judy Short; brother, Gary Simmons; and uncle, James Sirmons.
He is survived by his children, Clifton Lee Sirmons, Jr. of Livingston, Mark Anthony Sirmons of DeRidder, LA, Krysti Griffin and husband Doug of Livingston, Kevin Sirmons and wife Trina of Spurger, Joshua Sirmons and wife Nancy of Houston, and Weston Sirmons of Texas City; siblings, Brenda Bishop, Debbie Russell, Larry Simmons, Teena Widner, Rhonda Simmons Moore, Paula Simmons, Cheryl Gilcrease, Patti Simmons Strawther, and Kenneth Simmons; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
