Mr. Clayton Fredrick "Bubba" Collier, age 86, of Rome, GA passed away peacefully Thursday, January 9, 2025. He received exceptional care in his last days by the compassionate staff of the CCU Advent Redmond Hospital.
Clayton was born in Rome, Georgia April 5, 1938, son of the late William Paul and Edna Lucile Coker Collier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Collier; son, Kenneth Fredrick Collier; sister, Doris Langley; brothers, Gene Collier and Clyde Collier.
In his youth, he delivered newspapers for Rome News-Tribune. Clayton was a 1956 graduate Rome High School. He served in the United States Army. He was a well-known salesman at Volkswagon of Rome, Co-Owner of Collier-Anderson Motor Company and Salesman with Sherold Salmon Auto Superstore. In his younger years, Clayton served actively with the Rome Breakfast Optimist Club. As a faithful Christian, Clayton served in many leadership roles at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, including Deacon and Chairman of Ushers. In his later years he
was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Kim Schumacher (Steve) of Acworth and Paige Hammond (Patrick) of Lilburn; sons, Vince Collier (Schawna) of Calhoun, and Grant Collier (Hope) of Adairsville; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 2pm at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Burgess and Dr. Gary Graves officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church, Tuesday, January 14,fr om 12 until 2pm.
Pallbearers will include Grant Collier, Vince Collier, Isaac Collier, Patrick Hammond, Steve Schumacher, and Matthew Smith. Honorary pallbearers will include life-long friend, Sherold Salmon, and Clayton's caregiving team,
including Monica Mullinix , Noah Shelly, Interim Healthcare, Floyd Home Health and others.
