Claude C. Thomas, Jr., 77, of Dumfries, VA, passed away suddenly while on vacation with his wife on June 7, 2022, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA; son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Lucretia (Kendall) Thomas.
Claude was a proud graduate of Jennie Dean High School and attended Northern Virginia Community College where he studied Accounting. He retired from 30+ years with the federal government at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Washington Navy Yard, and the Pentagon with Budget Officer as his last position. Claude was elected as Councilman on the Dumfries Town Council for 10 years, during which time he also served as Vice Mayor. He also owned and operated Thomas Tax Service.
A member of Little Union Baptist Church, he was on the Deacon Board. He was also a member of the Prince William County Chapter of the NAACP, Toastmasters, and the Kiwanis Club, Prince Hall Masonic Lodge and Top Flight Corvette Club. Claude loved traveling the world and his favorite pastimes were driving his Corvette and playing bid whist. He will be remembered as a man of incomparable character, always true to God, himself, his family, and his community.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria B. Thomas; son, Claude C. Thomas, III and his wife, Erin; daughter, Helen Thomas McIntosh and her husband, Mark; six grandchildren, Garrett McIntosh and his wife, Lauren, Cierra Thomas, and her fianc?, DaQuan Boozer, Sidney Thomas, Grant McIntosh, Skye Thomas, and Claude C. Thomas IV; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A viewing will be held at Little Union Baptist Church on Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. An additional viewing will be held at Little Union Baptist Church on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Little Union Baptist Church on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 12:00 PM. The interment will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
