Claud Thomas

Claud was (and is) my maternal Grandfather! He was more of a father to me because I spent a majority of my childhood with him and my grandmother. I remember always wanting to be with him wherever he went! Papa (Claud) was a tobacco farmer who never really owned land that I was aware of. Wherever we lived from Hinkleville, Kentucky to LaCenter, Kentucky Papa farmed the land around us, growing tobacco! We had a drying barn and family and friends helped strip the dried leaves . Papa when I was 4 or 5 years old was still driving the horse and wagon to the burley floor in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to be sold at auction! Later he bought a tractor to drive the wagon.
