Mr. G. Clark Woodford, age 74, passed to his eternal rest on the morning of Friday, January 28, 2022, after a brief battle with colon cancer. He was the only son of the late Gilbert Woodford and C. Frances Moore Woodford. His wife of 52 years and high school sweetheart, Judy Barr, was by his side as were his children.
Raised in rural Ohio, Clark graduated as valedictorian of his class at Smithfield High School. He earned his degree in mathematics from Muskingum College. His first job with IBM took him to Columbus, Ohio and also introduced him to the game of golf. Avid does not begin to describe his passion for golf which led him to experience opportunities to play with Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, and other pros, but he most valued rounds with his many golf buddies, his son, and his grandchildren.
A respected leader and executive at CompuServe and Sterling Commerce, Clark valued each and every person on his path. In 2013, Clark and Judy relocated to Indian Land, SC to enjoy the year around golfing weather.
Clark is survived by his wife, his daughter Susan Schroeder (Marc) and their children Lucas and Natalie of Marvin, North Carolina, and his son David Woodford (Ann) and their daughters Claire and Anora of Lewis Center, Ohio.
Interment will be at Holly Memorial Garden in Colerain, Ohio on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 at 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Indian Land, South Carolina officiated by Pastor Joel McMakin.
