Clarita Joyce Doss

Clarita Joyce Doss October 31, 1952 - May 25, 2022 Merced, California - Clarita Joyce Doss passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and fur babies on May 25, 2022 at age 69 following a brief illness. Clarita was born at home in the small, rural town of Keota, Oklahoma on Halloween, October 31, 1952. She was the first-born daughter of Clifford Arcle and Emma Louise Doss. She moved with her parents to Merced, California as a toddler. Clarita earned her cosmetology license and was employed as a Supervising Instructor at Sierra College of Beauty for more than 35 years until her retirement. She immensely enjoyed her retirement years even though they were brief. Clarita was hardworking and passionate about teaching. She was committed to the success of each of her students at Sierra College of Beauty. Clarita also earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from CSU Stanislaus and earned her teaching credential in elementary education. She frequently tutored friends and neighbors' children that needed extra help especially in reading. She was a woman of strong faith. The nursing staff dubbed her, "Singin Mama" at Stanford Hospital as she frequently sang her favorite hymns. She enjoyed the simple things in life including spending time with her family, her fur babies, backyard BBQs, gardening and summer vacations in Lake Tahoe. She set an exemplary example for all of us and will leave a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of sharing her life. She is survived by her beloved sister, Coleda Wilson, and husband, Jon; her nephew, Heath Carden Simpson and many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Clifford Arcle and Emma Louise Doss. A visitation for Clarita will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, CA 95340. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bear Creek Community Church of the Nazarene, 1717 E Olive Avenue, Merced, CA 95340. An interment will occur Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Merced Cemetery District, 1300 B Street, Merced, CA 95341.
