MANNING - Clarence McKnight Wheeler, Sr., 79, widower of Barbara Jean Harrington Wheeler, died Thursday, August 12, 2021, at McLeod Health Clarendon.
Born March 6, 1942, in Turbeville, he was a son of the late John Henry Wheeler and the late Margaret McKnight Wheeler Harrington. He was the former owner and operator of Southeastern Games and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Manning.
He is survived by four children, Sheri Green and Bubba Wheeler, both of Manning, Ellen Wheeler Kelly (Daniel) of Sumter, and Cecil "Bubba" Evans (Robin) of McBee; six grandchildren, Lance Green (Tori), Stevie Wheeler, Brandi Wheeler, Jason Hardy (Cassie), Christy Hardy and Kali Wheeler; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Lowery of Dalzell and Barbara Jean King of Columbia; and special friend, Tanisha Simms.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Wheeler; a great grandson, Jonathan Hardy; a brother, Henry John Wheeler, Jr.; and two sisters, Corrine Welch and Margaret Ann Roberson.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd Ackerman officiating. Burial will follow in the Wheeler Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lance Green, Jason Hardy, Cayden Hardy, Derrick Fort, Stevie Wheeler, Daniel Kelly, Tanner Wheeler and Gavin Butler.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 405 Toccoa Drive, Manning.
