Mrs. Claire Lucille Storey
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
Claire Lucille Cooke Storey passed away on April 4 in Bloomington, MN. She was the wife of the late Hansel Harold (Hank) Storey, Jr. and the daughter of the late Bertha J. and Edgar W. Taylor.
Claire was born in Providence, RI and lived there until her early 20’s where she graduated from floral design school and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. She met Hank and once married they moved to Sullivan, IN and then relocated a few years later to Terre Haute, IN where she raised their two daughters and worked for the Vigo County school system’s Title I program before becoming an administrative assistant in Indiana State University’s Physical Education department. She retired from ISU in 1996.
Anyone who knew Claire knew she was passionate for gardening and for taking care of animals, and those passions continued throughout her retirement life in Naples, FL and Edina, MN.
Claire will be remembered by many for her kindness, her creative spirit, and her selflessness. She was happiest when helping others, spending time in the garden, and cooking for friends and family.
The interment of Claire’s ashes will be done during a private ceremony at a later date in the Peace Garden at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Edina, MN.
Claire is survived by her two children, Dianne T. Storey (Nick Morales) of Edina, MN, and Jan Storey (Jon Swanson) of Oracle, AZ, and her two grandchildren Jay Loeber (Taylor) of Excelsior, MN and Lindsay Loeber of Chicago, IL.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington. Memorials in memory of Claire may be made to:
