Christopher Paul Johnson, loving husband and father of two children passed away at the age of 72 on May 3, 2021. Chris was born on March 25th, 1949 in Somerville, MA to Paul and Catherine Johnson. The oldest of 5 children, Chris was driven to succeed at an early age and earned a philosophy degree from Cal State Long Beach where he met and soon married Sharon, the love of his life, on August 8, 1970. He worked hard throughout his life supporting his family and worked at Sears Roebuck and Co., followed by a long career with Kraft foods starting as a cook and transitioning into administration. Career advancements within Kraft led him and his family to Pocatello, ID. Always believing that education is essential to growth, he earned his MBA at Idaho State University, which then led to working at that very university in procurement and contract negotiations. He went on to become a director of purchasing for the University of Michigan before returning to Idaho to work at the University of Idaho. Chris enjoyed fishing, river rafting, body boarding, and helping with Knights of Columbus activities. Passionate about music, he could be found attending concerts and festivals from all musical genres, and listening to tens of thousands of songs he collected on his classic iPod.
He retired and moved to Eagle, ID in 2012. Chris stayed busy in retirement trying new restaurants, wood working, gardening, and keeping up with the grandkids. "Grammy Camp", graduations, and watching the grandkids' sporting activities was something he treasured. He was known for his quick wit, honesty, infectious smile, compassionate spirit, and ability to problem solve. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Paul, his mother, Catherine, and his grandson Johnathan D. Parkins. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Jennifer; son, Bryan; siblings: Kevin (UT), Suzanne (WA), Christine (OR), Richard (CA); 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held May 17, 2021 at St. Mark's Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. and a committal service May 18, 2021 at Dry Creek Cemetery at 10:00 A.M.
