Christian "Skip" W. Heinz, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 4, 2021 surrounded by family and friends.
Skip was born on October 14, 1938, the son of William and Adeline (Crown) Heinz. He enjoyed gardening, machining, and working on his favorite red tractors. He was happiest when his grandsons came looking for "M's," helped him sort tools, and spent quality time with him. In 2018, Skip proudly celebrated the 57th reunion with members of his Army National Guard Company. On April 20, 2018, he was united in marriage to his wife, Jane Brink, with whom he lived on the family farm, raising calves, goats, and a variety of other animals. He was an avid bowler until he was 81, and he also enjoyed playing Pegs and Jokers.
Skip is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Gena (Tim) Brown, Kris (Joel) Strahota, Cindy (Mike) Wiebe, and Heidi (Jamie Bryan) Heinz; his sister, Jane (Jim) Durkee; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; ex-wife and mother of his children, Margie; and further survived by nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and other relatives.
A memorial gathering for Skip will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, 266 Sherman Ave., Marquette, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Inurnment will take place at Inglehart Cemetery in Cambria at a later date.
