Cheryl Purcell Coggins, 63, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 5, 2020. She was born June 1, 1957 to Melvin and Monette (Mann) Carlton and spent most of her life in Sumter County, fondly known as the Queen of Bushnell. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bushnell and was a past member of the Cornerstone Hospice Board. She was the co-owner of Purcell Funeral Home in Bushnell from 1984 to 2007 and for 25 years served in banking in Bushnell. Cheryl was a youth ministry leader at FBC, a member of the pastoral search committee and taught Sunday School. She loved talking with and listening to others and enjoyed gardening, canning, and vacationing in the mountains with her family and friends. Cheryl was known to take in strays and she loved her dogs and most all animals. She was well known and respected in her community and will be dearly missed. Most important in her life was her Lord and Savior. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 11 years, Lester Coggins of Leesburg, FL; children: Justin Purcell of Bushnell, FL, Brooke (Shaun) Lovett of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; Dr. Brian Coggins of Durham, NC, Paul (Chelsea) Coggins of Fort Collins, CO; sisters: Mondell (Dale) Gray of Webster, FL, Glenda (Phil) Yaden of Sumterville, FL; and many loving extended family members. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lane Purcell, and her parents, Melvin and Monette Carlton. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Sumter County Fairgrounds. Cheryl's service will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, at 2:00 p.m. at The Sumter County Fairgrounds with Pastor Doug Watkins and Pastor Casey Ferguson officiating.
