Cherry Evelyn Watson, 98, of Goodhart, Michigan and Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 8th at her daughter's home surrounded by family. Cherry was born December 12th, 1921 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Samuel B. and Genevieve Ranger Moffett. Cherry graduated from Flint Central High School and received her B.A. at Albion College in Art History in 1943. She met Ted at Albion and was married in 1946. Their life together led them to reside in Harbor Springs, Arizona, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Mexico City, Midland, MI, Miami, and Zionsville, IN. Cherry was a leader in community organizations, was an excellent homemaker and loved social gatherings. In addition to her good nature, she will be remembered for her acceptance of others and her spirit of adventure.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Watson Jr. (Ted), her sisters, Winnifred Crossley, Eleanor Chope, Alice Jean Cummings, and brother, Paul Moffett. She is survived by her children, Edward F. Watson III (Lisa) and Wendy Moffett Fershee, both of Harbor Springs, MI; grandson Cody Watson Yothers of Davis, CA, granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Jennifer Timmer Trail and Alma Grace Trail of Portland, OR; nieces and nephews Roger Chope (Ann) of Portland, OR, Jeff Moffett of Gainesville Florida, Carolyn Cummings Tiberio (Tony) of Stuart, FL, Tina Cummings Lemon (Rick) of Madison, WI, David Cummings (Judy), Pete Cummings, Ruth Cummings Wise, and Tec Cummings, all of Harbor Springs. She is also survived by her beloved grandnieces and nephews and extended family members. At a future date, a memorial service will be held at the Harbor Springs United Methodist Church, with a celebration to follow. We are unable to set a date at this time. It will be
announced in The Harbor Light, The Petoskey News-Review and the Zionsville Times Sentinel and through the Harbor Springs Methodist Church and Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey, MI.
