Charlsey Lou Stroud Goolsby passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at her home in Myrtle, MS. Born on April 1, 1940, in Union County, MS, Charlsey was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her 84 years.
The daughter of the late Charlie Emerson Stroud and Mary Lou Beard Stroud, Charlsey grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, E.L. "Sonny" Goolsby, with whom she shared a life full of joy and companionship. Charlsey was also the sister to the late Elbert Stroud, William E. "Kinks" Stroud, Johnny Stroud, Robert Stroud, Mable Kirk, and Frances Adams, and aunt to the late Dewayne Stroud. Her legacy continues through her cherished daughters, Penny Heard, Christi Basil (Ken), Andie Cooper (Will), and Jill Collum (Robert).
Charlsey's life was further enriched by her seven grandchildren: Bre Heard Goodwin (Dustin), Tyler Basil (Hanna), Hayden Basil (Avery Grace), Liam Cooper (Kelsey), Reed Cooper, Addison Collum, and Emianna Collum. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Kenley Basil, Rob Basil, and Kenna Ray Cooper. Her love extended to several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Professionally, Charlsey was a dedicated sales lady for Home Interior, where she found great joy in helping others beautify their homes. Her natural flair for sales was matched only by her passion for the products she sold. Charlsey's involvement in her community was marked by her genuine interest in the lives of those she met, and her ability to make lasting connections with her customers and colleagues alike.
Charlsey's interests were a reflection of her loving and thoughtful nature. She relished the time spent selling Home Interior and Gifts, not only for the business aspect but for the opportunity it provided to visit with people and form friendships. A wonderful cook, she took pleasure in preparing meals for her family and friends, always ensuring that no one left her table hungry.
Above all, Charlsey's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always putting their needs before her own. Her love was a constant presence in their lives, and her guidance and support helped shape them into the individuals they are today.
She was a faithful member of New Albany First Baptist Church.
Those who knew Charlsey will remember her for her loving spirit, her kindness, and her thoughtful nature. She had a remarkable ability to listen, to empathize, and to offer words of encouragement. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Charlsey's passing leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.
