ORRVILLE, OH -- Charlotte Jean Lufkin, age 80, of Orrville, formerly of Bangor Maine, died Thursday, January 16, 2020, two days prior to her 81st birthday, at Danbury Senior Living in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Charlotte was born on January 18, 1939, in Bangor, Maine and her fondest memories of her childhood involved her years spent in an orphanage in Bangor. She married John H. Lufkin on May 11, 1960, in Bangor, and graduated from Newark (OH) High School later in her life. She most recently worked in the deli department for Buehlers in Orrville for 7 years, retiring in 2009.
Charlotte was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Orrville and has attended Wayne Presbyterian Church in Wooster for the last ten years. She was a former member of ORT (Jewish women's educational training) in New York. She enjoyed sewing, puzzles, quilting and going to the cinema for movies. She would always open her home to her friends and her family's friends, providing food and driving them to events and shopping.
Surviving are five children, Steven (Donna) Lufkin of Anchorage, AK, Lowell (Linda Little) Lufkin of Dresden, OH, Rachel Lufkin of Orrville, OH, Peter (Tiffany) Lufkin, and Kathy-Ann Lufkin; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Jason) Bennett, Liza (Don) Da Cunha, Bryan (Amanda) Lufkin, Andrew Lufkin, Lowell Lufkin, Nathaniel Lufkin, Benjamin Lufkin, and Lillian Lufkin; and many great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Road, Wooster, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Services will follow at 3:00 pm on Sunday, at Wayne Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Rev. Bob Meyer officiating. Charlotte had an intense desire to go home to Maine and her burial will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Bangor, ME.
