Graveside services for Charline Herrington Lively, 98, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin with Rev. Mark Newton officiating.
Charline Herrington Lively was born December 5, 1925, in Trinity, Texas. She was the daughter of Annie Pearl Herrington and Henry Charles Herrington. She passed away September 24, 2024.
Mrs. Lively grew up in Huntsville, Texas. She attended both Sam Houston State University and Stephen F. Austin University where she earned her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees.
She taught in the Lufkin Public School System for thirty-five years, retiring in 1985. She volunteered at Memorial Hospital and in the nursery at Lufkin's First Baptist Church.
She was a member of several organizations including TSTA, Classroom Teachers, The Study Club of Lufkin, Beta Sigma Phi, State Social Studies Organizations, and National History Organizations. Charline was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.
In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband or teaching buddies, playing bridge and 42, reading, and spending time with grandchildren. Mrs. Lively was married to Carl D. Lively for 67 years and had four children.
Survivors include son, David Lively and wife Susanne of Lufkin; daughter, Linda Sparks and husband Lawrence of Lufkin; daughter, Sharon Baker and husband Carl of Angleton; daughter, Paula Lee and husband Joseph of Pearland; seven grandchildren, Janie Lee Santacoloma and husband Andres, Ben Lively and wife Mattie, Amy Lively and fianc? Spencer Pruett, Michael Baker and wife Elle, Kyle Lee, Sarah Bird and husband Joseph, and Kathlyn Lee; two great-grandchildren, Oliva and Noah Santacoloma; and her brother, H.C. Herrington.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lively was preceded in death by her husband, Carl D. Lively.
