Mr. Charles Belvie Whiddon, age 79, of Dublin, died Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Fairview Park Hospital. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m. in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Mike Bankston and Reverend Gary Griffin will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jeff Myers, Clint Whiddon, Scott Whiddon, David Whiddon, Keith Dryden, Chris Dryden, Dalton Lee and Ted Henson.
Mr. Whiddon was born and raised in Waycross, the son of the late Jessie Belvie Whiddon and the late Georgia Mae Aldridge Whiddon. He grew up a member of Central Baptist Church and graduated from Waycross High School where he excelled in football. Mr. Whiddon began a 42-year career in the paper industry with Gilman Paper Company in St. Mary's prior to working in several locations within the United States starting paper mills. In 1979 he moved to Dublin to work for South East Paper Company from which he retired. Mr. Whiddon loved fishing and hunting.
Survivors are his children, Charles "Chuck" Whiddon and his wife Dianne of Tennille and Karen Marie Coleman of St. Marys; grandchildren, Lisa Inglett and her husband Randy of Culloden, Tonya Ellis and her husband Ricky of Tennille, Tara Clanahan and her husband Greg of Sandersville, Allysa Lee of St. Marys, Ashlyn Brannen and her husband John of Covington, Brittany Lee of St. Marys, and Dalton Lee of Milledgeville; nine great grandchildren; one great grandchild; and siblings, June Dryden and her husband Eddie, and Joyce Lyndon all of Waycross and Kenny Whiddon of Dublin.
