Tallmadge - Charles Robert Weiss, 88, of Tallmadge, passed away suddenly Friday February 12. Chuck was born in Pittsburgh in 1932 to Albert and Elizabeth Weiss, one of twelve children. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
In 1955 he graduated from Duquesne University Pharmacy School where he met his future wife, Nancy, and his future business partners. Chuck and Nancy married and moved to Akron where he began his pharmacy career at Akron General. He and three friends later decided to open their own drug store, Youngfellow Drug, later Acme Pharmacies, where he maintained the position of Director of Pharmacy Operations until retirement in 1996. Chuck was a true advocate of the profession of pharmacy and inspired many future pharmacists. He amassed quite a collection of pharmacy memorabilia which he donated to Appalachian College of Pharmacy, where in 2019 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Pharmacy.
As much as he loved pharmacy, he loved his family more. He loved Nancy, his wife of 65 years, and the marriage they shared. They raised four children, Chuck (Kathy) Weiss, Thom (Brenda) Weiss, Marianne (Greg) Tomei, and Angela (John) Loughry, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pappap was so very proud of the many accomplishments of his grandchildren.
He had unique hobbies because he was a unique man. He loved 3D photography, hiking, camping, traveling, and volunteering at church as a parish school of religion teacher and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. He was interested in everything and everyone he met and encouraged every individual to follow their dreams.
